Synopsis
In Philadelphia, disco singer Deloris Van Cartier witnesses her gangster boyfriend Curtis shoot a man who has talked to the police. She runs to Eddie, the desk chief and an old school friend, who hides her in witness protection at the convent of the Holy Order of the Little Sisters of Our Mother of Perpetual Faith. Disguised as Sister Mary Clarence, Deloris clashes with the Mother Superior, then turns the failing choir into a sensation that brings crowds, donations and an invitation to sing for the Pope. The publicity leads Curtis to the convent, and the sisters stand together to protect her.
