Synopsis
This pantomime follows the traditional Mother Goose story. It has a contemporary, modern edge while still retaining the original plot and characters with a few extra pieces of slapstick and ideas. Mother Goose is poor and ugly, and wishes to become rich and beautiful. The nasty Squire Robin Banks is after her to pay the rent, along with his two batty bailiffs Scratch and Sniff. Fairy Emerald and her scatty apprentice, Fairy Nuff, fulfil Mother Goose's first wish by giving her Priscilla, the magic goose which lays golden eggs. Witch Hazel, who is evil through and through and will do anything to get what she wants, fulfils the second, by offering her beauty in return for her soul and the magic goose. Fairy Emerald finally wins the day and the pantomime ends with a surprise double wedding and everyone living happily ever after.

Were you in it?
We would like to know more about Mother Goose.
The record for this production is thinner than the show deserves. If you were in it, or you were in the audience, you may have something the archive does not.
Programmes, photographs, cuttings from the local paper, a cast list in somebody’s handwriting: all of it helps, and we will add it here.
