Synopsis
Inventor Caractacus Potts lives in a windmill with his children, Jeremy and Jemima. Short of money but full of ideas, he restores a broken-down racing car the children believe is special. His invention Toot Sweets brings him into contact with Lord Scrumptious and his capable daughter Truly, and a connection begins to form. On a seaside picnic Caractacus tells the children a story in which the car flies and floats. In it the family reach Vulgaria, where the Baron has forbidden children and the sinister Child Catcher hunts them. Jeremy and Jemima are taken, and with the toymaker's help the children are freed and the Baron's rule overthrown. Back in the real world, Caractacus's fortunes begin to change.
